I think our area has a disproportionate amount of deniers, possibly because their livelihood depends on the very industry that is contributing to the worlds problem.

This being an industry that for decades has invested in misinformation so as to maintain its social licence and its very viability.
The fossil fuel industry has invested hugely to influence our politicians with donations.
There is an unhealthy relationship of fossil fuel executives either being former politicians or vice versa becoming political staffers.
One of the many examples includes someone being the current PMs chief of staff who was previously the CEO (John Kunkel) of the minerals council - a potent lobby group for the fossil fuel industry.
People should be familiar with the term "the revolving door".
I believe our democracy is broken and that donations from corporations and foreign entities should be banned.
Donations should be transparent and revealed in real time not nearly a year after an election.
Back to the climate change deniers in our community.
I think they need to justify their activities, not just accept information that aligns with their beliefs while ignoring the facts.
There is no excuse for ignorance in an age where information is at your finger tips.
I can only say to those people, no one is out to get you. We will all need to work together on what is the greatest threat to man kind.
We are just over one degree of warming and advancing rapidly.
Currently we are progressing at 0.17 of a degree per decade which puts us on track to exceed 1.5 degrees by 2050.
We are already experiencing the effects of 1 degree and it is going to get progressively worse, and at a rate that is likely to accelerate if we remain inactive.
We as individuals can do little to reduce emissions but industries can.
We must lobby our politicians to do the right thing, and I urge all to do so.
