Gulgong RSL bounced back from their recent form slump by chasing down the 140 target set by Centennial at Billy Dunn Oval 2.
Centennial – who overcame RSL in the first Twenty20 round of the competition last weekend – won the toss and elected to bat.
They lost Tim Papworth for a duck, before first-drop Steve Haney – who would go onto be his side’s top scorer with a half century – and remaining opener Trevor Seis (27) put 69 on the board before the partnership was broken.
Cody Lawson (20) and Steve Clark (15) were the only other Centennial batsmen to hit double figures.
Jared Clulow – who took 3/17 off of his eight overs, with two maidens – took several top order scalps, Mick Jarvis (1/19) grabbed the early wicket of Papworth, Geoff Lee took 2/26 and Jackson Hardy 2/7.
RSL opener Cal Ruming laid the foundation for the run chase with his top score of 56, although he lost a number of partners; Jesse Sahyoun (2), Clulow (16), Steve Hardy (2), and Greg Parish (22).
Lee’s 30 n.o guided them home in 33.5 overs.
Wicket takers were; Haney 2/33, Jeff Rayner 1/8, Darren Payne 1/22, and Papworth 1/21.
In the round’s other match Bowlers also turned around a last start loss against Coolah at Billy Dunn Oval 1.
The visitors won the toss and chose to bat and lost opener Nathan Duce for just four with only double that figure on the board, then first drop Bruce Hocking was removed for just six.
Other opener Steve Gilbert (12), Josh James (22) and John Esdaile (19), would be the only ones to hit double digits as Coolah slumped to be all out for 76.
Sam Gorrie took 3/16, Greg Reid 2/2, Blake Gorrie 2/30, Brad James 1/10, and Amit Sutaria 1/ 4.
The Bowlers then set about the run chase with Sutaria (11), Dave Lumsden (10 n.o), Mark Gorrie (20), top run scorer Sam Gorrie (24), and Lachlan Henry (10 n.o), reeling in the total inside of 28 overs.
They were well on track with 34 – nearly half the target – on the board when they lost opener Mark Gorrie.
The wicket takers for Coolah were; Duce (1/22) who bowled out a full ten overs with one maiden, Josh James (1/13), and Nathan James (1/22) – while Esdaile bowled out a tidy seven overs for 18 runs with two maidens.
