The dealership won the Business Philanthropy Award, the first time it has been given out.
It received the award for its behind-the-scenes support for Anson Street School, Orange High School, the Banjo Paterson memorial and community events.
I didn't expect it at all.
- Bob Craig
Mr Craig said he was overwhelmed after accepting the award.
“I didn’t expect it at all, everyone makes a great contribution to the town, we just might have been doing it a bit longer,” he said.
“It’s part of the obligation to put back into the town where we made our living.”
Asked whether he had witnessed the fruits of the donations, Mr Craig said he and his wife had quietly experienced some great moments during the years.
They faced some tough competition from John Davis Motors for sponsoring the the construction of Western Care Lodge and the cancer unit, Tony Leahey Ford for supporting the Orange Regional Museum, Kennards Hire for in-kind sponsorship at community events and Ashcroft’s Supa IGA for providing a breakfast program at Bowen Public School.
Kennards Hire received a certificate of appreciation.
