The 2025 Genesis GV70 will arrive here in the second half of 2024, with pricing and specifications to be announced closer to launch.
Genesis has thus far revealed only the updated combustion-powered GV70 and not its Electrified GV70 sibling, but has shown off its mid-sized SUV in both standard and Sport guises.
Its mid-life update brings minor cosmetic tweaks to the exterior, but a more substantial overhaul inside – much like the update to the larger GV80.
It mirrors its big brother in getting a 27-inch OLED display incorporating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen.
Also like the GV80, it receives a new touch-capacitive climate control array below, though it has kept the distinctive oval design element on its centre stack. Instead of incorporating the climate control array, this now includes the air vents and shortcuts for the infotainment system.
Ambient lighting extends from the dashboard to the doors, and there's a two-tone steering wheel with Genesis' updated emblem.
Up front, there's a restyled grille and headlights with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, while a restyled front bumper features a skid plate and wider air ducts for a more rugged, SUV-like appearance.
Genesis has addressed a criticism of the GV70 by moving the indicators up from the bumper and integrating them with the tail lights, making them much more visible than before.
The rear spoiler also incorporates a module for the GV70's reversing camera and digital rear-view mirror, which Genesis says gives the rear a more streamlined appearance than before.
There are new 19-inch alloy wheels, while the Sport rides on 21s.
The Sport package features enlarged air intakes up front and a dark chrome diffuser and exhaust tips at the rear. Inside, there's also a unique 'D-cut' steering wheel and orange highlights.
Genesis hasn't detailed any changes to the GV70's powertrain lineup.
It pulled the plug on the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine in Australia for 2024, leaving two petrol engines.
There's a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 224kW of power and 422Nm of torque, available with either rear- or all-wheel drive, and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 producing 279kW and 530Nm, available only with all-wheel drive.
The related Electrified GV70 features a dual-motor all-wheel drive electric powertrain.
The GV70 debuted in December 2020, going on sale in Australia in 2021.
More than 200,000 units have been sold worldwide, and it quickly became the brand's best-selling vehicle locally.
Last year, Genesis sold 1190 in Australia. The GV80 was a distant second with 403 units. That means the GV70 outsold every other Genesis model combined.
