A man has been charged after a ride share driver was allegedly assaulted and his car stolen.

The 49-year-old driver accepted a booking, collecting two 23-year-old men from Box Hill in Sydney's north west, at 12.35am on June 24.

Police said the men asked to make a number of stops including at a service station in Rouse Hill where the pair bought food at 1.05am.
They then requested a stop at the intersection of Kindelan Road and Gibbon Road in Winston Hills where the driver was beaten up and his car stolen, police said.
He suffered injuries to his head and face but escaped the car and sought assistance from a resident of a nearby home.

Emergency services were called to the intersection at 1.35am and the driver was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
"It will be alleged that during the journey one of the passengers became aggressive towards the driver whilst the second passenger attempted to calm the situation," NSW Police said.
Charges laid
Police searched a home on Lanhams Road in Winston Hills and found the allegedly aggressive passenger's clothes and mobile phone in a fire in the backyard.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated taking and driving a motor vehicle and aggravated robbery, inflicting actual bodily harm.
He was also charged with driving as a learner not accompanied by driver,police officer or tester, tampering with evidence with intent to mislead judicial tribunal and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
"Whilst in custody the man allegedly hindered officers in obtaining a forensic sample from his hands," police said.
